Brilliant effort by David Sullivan
I decided to take my son to his first WHU game last Saturday. We live in the USA and he lost his Mum to cancer two years ago, so I thought it was time for a visit.

I'd bought two tickets via online booking and they were not together, so I emailed David Sullivan, explained the circumstances and asked if he could help.

Two hours later DS had replied, copied the Head of Ticketing, Gavin Stanley, and told him to sort it out.

We arrived last Saturday, and I collected tickets, knowing we were sat together. Gavin Stanley then took us on a guided tour of the ground, starting in the home dressing room, via the pitch and BFS' chair and then on through the offices and the hospitality area.

I was amazed how little space there is there. Small changing rooms, barely any space for marketing and offices, blah blah blah....we can't move to the OS soon enough.

And so to the game.......and the seats. Right behind the player's tunnel we had walked up...I've never had better seats. My son had the most fabulous day, although he was a little bemused by some of the comments aimed at Jermain Defoe......"Break that Judas cunt's fucking legs" was one and my son looked at me and said "Daddy, that's not very nice". I never explained to him what a paedo was.

Yesterday I emailed DS and thanked him. I commented that someone had made my son's day because they signed Diafra Sakho.

Good to hear.

I understand that we weren't particularly a special case but someone cared......then there are all the other special cases and I hope they are taken care of too.

There is a story about Leicester City going around social media at the moment.

Old boy and his wife have had season tickets for years and never missed a game. Old girl dies a couple of months back and as he can't face going alone, other members of family will attend with him.

Come to renewing for next year and he wants two tickets as still doesn't want to go alone. The club heard about it and gave him the second ticket free of charge.

Might Only be worth £500 but cracking gesture

When I took Mrs FEH to the Boleyn it was for that Wimbledon match in September 1998: 3-0 up to 4-3 down.

For about six months after that, Mrs FEH stopped complaining about my frequent swearing!

That sentence alone shows how emotive football is and why there will always be people who will never be objective.

"This thread should have 500 posts, but some don't want to understand what the owners can do."

Unless I've missed something didn't he just drop you an email and ask the ticket office manager to sort it out? Hardly mesemersing stuff.

Spot on. I don't begrudge them helping out fans from abroad and I think it's a good touch. We're the ones coughing up the dough week-in, week-out though, and they seem intent on rinsing us completely.

Some years back but a favourite memory from one of my son's early visits to UP was when he turned to my brother and asked "What's a wanker, Uncle Mike?"

'That would be your Dad' replied Uncle Mike.

On the swearing issue, I took two of my sons' friends along with us to the Sunderland match. It was their first match. I thought it was a shit match but they absolutely loved it and it was topped off by the copious swearing. That was their favourite bit.

The only thing we have in common with Gollivan is that we support the same club.

I bet most of us on here would behave similarly to them if we owned the club.

Thus my point at being held almost to ransom.

But don't tell me G&S are these good guys looking after the best interests of all the fans when it comes to tickets simply because they help out the odd person that comes from a great distance once or are ill every now and again.

Putting up the prices was a disgrace, pure and simple.

Croe and Penners, I did think long and hard about both of what you are on about, (about five minutes) and then phoned up and paid the money. I thought I know what I'm going to do anyway so what is the point of agonising over small stuff.

If they at least set out the parameters you know what you have to do, if you can't afford it or want to argue about it then take the risk of not getting what you ultimately want.

Thank you
